National Library Day

Branding a National Celebration

Year 2018
Branding

Overview

National Library Day is an initiative of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and supported by the British Council, which is the United Kingdom’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities.

The objective of National Library Day is to create a positive perception of libraries in communities and make them more accessible, inclusive, inviting, and useful in everyone’s life. In short, this is a day of celebrating the library.

Brand Design At A Glance

Logo Design

Celebrating and raising awareness about Library in the community. Represented by a firework

The logo mark is constructed from a single rounded diamond shape procedurally arranged to form a floral pattern. The petals/leaves of the final shape take a very cohesive look because of this.

The logo mark is then housed in a playful balloon shape to further strengthen the sense of celebration of the brand. At the same time, this creates an opportunity to present the branding as a more colorful and dynamic one. It also opens up the scope for incorporating other fun elements inside the balloon.

Visual Elements

The Hand

The visual signature for National Library Day is the picture of a human hand in different gestures. A picture of a hand is independent of age, sex, race, and educational qualification. This helps communicate the idea that libraries are for everyone. It also denotes the essence of the campaign which is to bring libraries close to everyone’s “arm’s reach”.

Balloons

The colorful balloons allowed using them for various application such as communicating the date of the event. It also gives the occasion a festive and celebratory look.

Iconography

Custom-made icons for the event made each communication visually more engaging. It also gave me the opportunity to avoid text-heavy communications.
