Project Overview

Beautiv.com is a premium and trustworthy shopping destination for high-end and prestige cosmetics in Bangladesh.

Founded in 2017, Beautiv started as a merchant site in an e-commerce marketplace. In 2022, It moved to a dedicated web platform to better serve its customers.

My Role

I worked on the project as the lead UX designer

My responsibilities included collaborating with the client to understand the requirements, identify the user personas and their use cases, and creating a robust UX for the site.

I also created a comprehensive design system and admin panels for different stakeholders

Game Logline

A selfish and whimsical cat, cupid goes on stealthy adventures to make other cats fall in love or hate each other by creating perfect or absurd matches to bring drama into the matchmaking world.

Game Overview

After being fired from your matchmaking job you receive the opportunity to prove yourself and bring as much love to the world to be rehired or change your job to become an evil agent of chaos.
Embark on a stealthy adventure and challenge your problem-solving skills as a cupid cat by discovering the interests of cats and bringing them together or pushing them away. Move objects, make sounds, and bait people in different ways to make cats fall in love or hate each other. The more dramatic your relationships (love/hate) are the better you score!

Key Features

Love Bomb

The player can make the cats fall in love with each other with this final cupid attack, if the cats have completely different interests, they would hate each other and create a toxic relationship.

The player has a finite amount of love bombs during each level which can be thrown out at any time to the cat couples. While the game progresses, different types of Love bombs will be added to the arsenal of the cupid cat like bombs that can make more than 2 cats together and bombs that will make all cats move from their original waking paths.

Drama Meter

As a cat cupid you have a balance meter to see if you are an agent of love or chaos in the world. The more love matches you will bring, the more the love bar will grow and your character will become more angelical.

On the other side, if you create toxic matches and bring chaos to the world, your character will become more devil-looking.

 

Attraction Bait

Interact with the baits (objects) on the scene so that you can activate or deactivate them.
The baits have 3 different categories (Food, activities and entertainment), each bait can attract NPCs who have interests belonging to that category to come closer to the bait when it is activated. With this feature, you can lure the cats who have interests that match the interest categories to get together.

Perfect Pairing

Each NPC character contains 3 interests divided into 3 categories. Each cat interest will tell if a cat is a perfect match for healthy love or for toxic love to another one. When the interests are compared there will be score per category and united, there will be a score for each pairing. The player must find how good or bad a couple they are and choose the type of drama and desired score.

Divergent Brainstorming

My team brainstormed in a divergent-convergent method by creating a rough idea of different versions of the game. Different iterations of gameplay modes, levels, and mechanics were considered before converging into a single idea.

Scoping

Since the time was limited for development, the scope was defined very carefully. An ideal version of the prototype was defined along with some stretch goals for the project.

Playtesting

Two rounds of playtesting were done with actual users and multiple rounds of internal playtests were done to refine the game experience. For the first playtest, I developed a paper prototype with the help of the team in the absence of a digital prototype. It gave us a lot of insights about the game experience that we incorporated in the final prototype.
